We're finally ready to take the next big challenge around designers! We've been totally frustrated with the current state of affairs with the design job market.
Unicorn job descriptions, unpaid rip-offs in the name of interviews, recruiters having no clue how to hire a designer, hiring managers having no clue how to conduct design assessments, plagiarism in portfolios, designers having no clue how to manage stakeholders and above all, both not knowing what problems they are solving and how to solve them —the sheer scope of the problem statement startled us and we wanted to take baby-steps in changing the status quo that helps both the designer and the organisation win.
On that note, we did a number of experiments last year and some of our learnings have kept us sleepless. We had no clue how to deal with the passage of time and the size of the problem. We've been breaking our heads since then. Months passed by and we've only touched the tip of the iceberg. This year, we gathered all our strength and decided to go past the stomach-wrenching emotions and make a difference.

We noticed we have two types of clients. One who genuinely wants great quality and wants to work with a team who understands this space really well. We call them as 1% club. The other type just wants to spread the word around and is ok with the rain of irrelevant resumes. This type doesn’t want to be helped and doesn’t care about the quality of candidates. We call them as 99% club. We want to help both. It is easy when we say we want to choose one and leave the other. In our case we wanted to ensure Xperian is the design stop for everything design and include every need out there!
As a first step we decided to create a most humane designer-hiring agency, which will help both Organisations and Makers find fit. When the whole world is moving towards AI and ML, we decided to move in the other direction. In this direction, it is all about human connection, privacy, security, care, empathy, honesty, niche and competence. Things that a robot cannot do and only an expert product designer/ leader can do, will be done here. We will publish all our offerings soon and yes that deserves a page for itself.
